Awards of Excellence
Church of God Association of Christian Schools offers several awards of excellence to member schools, childcare centers, and teachers that meet the award criteria.

Award Types and Requirements
Mountain Climber Award
- School/Center must be accredited by CGACS
- Pass inspections with an 80% or higher
- Attend the CGACS Educators Conference
- Attend the CGACS Leadership Conference
- Attend the CGACS Annual Association Meeting
- Pay membership fees by the deadlines established by CGACS
- Submit Form ASPR, with supporting documentation and fee, by the deadline established by CGACS
- Conduct staff meetings that include training in fire extinguisher use and school evacuation routes
- Send copy of annual fire safety training log
- Administration, instructors, and staff must earn a minimum of 12 hours of in-service professional development
- Submission deadline is July 31
Top of the Mountain Award
- School/Center must be accredited by CGACS
- Pass inspections with a 90% or higher
- Attend the CGACS Educators Conference
- Attend the CGACS Leadership Conference
- Attend the CGACS Annual Association Meeting
- Pay membership fees by the deadlines established by CGACS
- Submit Form ASPR, with supporting documentation and fee, by the deadline established by CGACS
- Conduct staff meetings that include training in fire extinguisher use and school evacuation routes
- Send copy of annual fire safety training log
- Administration, instructors, and staff must earn a minimum of 15 hours of in-service professional development
- Two Community/Parent Involvement events - school/center must send documentation to support evidence of events
- Submission deadline is July 31
Teacher of the Year
- Teacher must be employed by an accredited school/center
- Attendance record must show compliance with attendance policy of school/center
- Must complete a minimum of 15 hours of professional development (between July 1 and June 30)
- Must regularly attend staff meetings
- Submit photographs of teacher's room arrangement and bulletin boards
- Provide a sample of teacher's lesson plans
- Length of employment will be considered
- A letter of nomination must be submitted by principal/director
- Limited to one nomination per location per program year
- Each school or center may nominate a teacher by July 31
- All nominations will be announced at the annual Educators Conference. Winner must be present at the CGACS Educators Conference to win (any exception to this requirement must be approved by CGACS Executive Director prior to Educators Conference)
